ABOUT US
We are a pair of hard-working writers - who aspire to becoming authors.
The difference being simply that once published you can
claim to be an author.
Our own preference, is to write about people, human nature -
things that happen in one's
life and how we, as human beings react, respond - adjust and hopefully overcome
the numerous obstacles and difficulties placed in our paths
WritersStudio, is, for now, an experiment.
In our collective experience as 'wannabe' writers, we have invested
copious amounts of time, energy and imagination to participation in various
writing groups, workshops.
In such engagement, not only do we submit our own work for review, critique and/or comment, we are actively engaged in reading, listening and participating in the works of our co-members, colleagues.
Some, are weathered and experienced writers - others are just looking to start out,
to experience such roundtables - to learn by listening, to learn by hearing
the opinions, suggestions - the questions that surround a submission.
And, truthfully, few of us - a very few - have developed the
confidence to offer our work to
a broader audience - or to, perhaps, writing competitions.
Plus, there is the cost factor - very much a real reality - that may
influence one's decision to embark on that next step of a wider public exposure.
WritersStudio.Online (that's us) is looking to provide a sensible alternative -
an alternative to ignominy, perhaps.
Here's the deal - we - myself and my colleague, Anni - are seeking to provide a low-cost promotional vehicle
to this group. Initially, in fact at no cost....more about that in the fine print
We will provide a dedicated webPage, here, on WritersStudio, at no charge
for 60 days. Why? Simply so that you, if interested, might participate in our experiment, our development.
And, truth be told, this is now in beta mode - shorthand for
'Gee - will this actually work?'
Just kidding - sortof
We will initially accept 12 participants. A webPage with their name in the menu
will contain their submission of a written work. There will be, of course, certain guidelines to which we all need to conform.
A principal one is that myself, Anni, need firstly to read/review
the proposed submission. Not, to pass judgment, nor to propose 'fixes' - we assume
that everyone selected will conduct themselves appropriately, and shape their submission documents, professionally.
Moreover, all works need to be works of fiction,
No opinion pieces, no political rants - no journal entries
Once the piece has been submitted (in French or English - or both)
- we will assess its appropriate formatting on the page and then
return a screenshot to the
contributor for approval and sign-off.
Here's the best deal - you will be able to distribute and/or promote your page
with a liveLink......
it would look something like:
www.writersstudio.online/JohnSmith
BTW
important feature. Albeit the default language used is english, there is an auto-converter tool (top right) that will instantly translate most all content into french, italian or mandarin. Other languages may be considered upon request.
As we move through the 60 day period, we will monitor and assess site activity -
we have analytical tools that will provide us with number of visits, from where (not the individual persons)
and we can then report back to the participant, helpful data, bi-weekly.
'What's the point and the purpose' is your likely question.
Simple - if all goes according to plan, after 60 days, you - the submitter - will tell us
if you'd like to continue and we would then, together, explore the costs associated with doing that.
As it stands, now, our initial thoughts are a modest fee of $10.00/month,
for two pages. The MainPage should contain a photo (your choice), a BIO, a linkable CV button and a button that directly links to Page Two - which contains an extract of your work, or poem.
A page, however, can be rather lengthy - the precise governors of such yet to be determined.
Finally, in the not too distant future, Writers•Studio will seek to
sponsor and promote regular writing contests - nothing too elaborate, but fun.
And, we will also, on a regular basis, provide writing prompts - which may themselves
become a contest.
Thanks for listening
